Second Spark is based in Kansas City, Missouri, and serves nearby counties in west-central Missouri and eastern Kansas. If you’re located in our service area, we offer free drop-off and for larger donations, free pickup, of your modern tech donations (scheduling required and subject to staff/volunteer availability).*
We’ll conveniently collect your discarded devices and, whenever possible, give them a new life through refurbishment and redistribution.
How much is refurbished?
Second Spark is committed to minimizing waste. Our goal is to ensure that at least 85% of the total weight of donated tech is refurbished, reused, or responsibly repurposed, with no more than 15% ending up as discard.
This benchmark is based on nearly a decade of small-scale experience, where less than 10% of devices consistently ended up in landfills. As we scale our operations, we’ll continue to track, measure, and report this data publicly.

Helping those in need.
We believe that dignity and discretion go hand in hand, especially when helping kids get the technology they need to succeed. Our donations to local schools and families are made anonymously. Working with counselors, community partners, and school staff to identify real needs without drawing public attention to individual recipients.
We’re not here for a spotlight, we’re here to help where it counts. No ribbon-cutting or photo ops, just tech placed where it’s most needed and with quiet respect.

We can accommodate video surveillance of hard drive destruction upon request, especially for devices donated by businesses or organizations.
However, we strongly encourage donors to erase or destroy any sensitive or confidential data beforehand, and ideally through an in-house IT team or a trusted professional.
